New Toy/Cage

For the past three plus years I have been driving a very tired 1987 Honda Civic. It has been on it's last leg for quite some time and my wife and I have been looking for a replacement vehicle. She has been very insistant about me getting a car that I will enjoy (since I have driven the crap car for so long). Last night we picked up a "new to me" BMW 330Ci.

My initial reaction when I saw the car was - damn, that’s nice! I love the lines. Very mean, yet subtle. The cockpit of the car is smooth. My largest complaint would be that there are a few too many buttons. On the positive end, all necessary controls are at your finger tips, with integrated controls in the wheel.

All of my previous cages have been of the severly under-powered type. This baby came off the lot at 225 horses. That made an impression on me right away. The first thing I noticed is the nice sound of the engine growl. It just tells you that this car is ready to perform. I didn’t really hammer it when I first pulled out of the lot to test drive it. My wife told me to punch it, so I obliged. Love the traction control! I took it tothe freeway and accelerated to merge. Again - previous cage underpowered. Within a very short distance the car had accelerated past 90mph without my realizing how fast it was moving. I had to be very careful not to go over 75 mph because it was so smooth. Very similar problem with the bike. It can be a little bumpy due to the sport package, which makes it ride stiffer, but the handling is great.

Re: New Toy/Cage

Congrats, they are sweet machines. Was looking at them but needed more room and couldn't afford the 5.

Nice.

Re: New Toy/Cage

Thanks on the congrats...

Mojave954 - We looked at a Volvo S80 T6, which had a ton of room inside and still moves like skat, but at the time we were still closing on our house, so couldn't move on it. You are right - sweet machine!

929_Nupe - I totaled a Toyota truck four years ago and went without a car for a time. Rode my old Suz RF600 everywhere. I was working construction and going to school again at the time. Bought an overpriced ring with the payout from the truck, which now resides on wifes finger. Finally got into the Honda for $800 because I was tired of getting rained on. Rains a lot here. Yes - it is quite a step up, but so was paying cash for the 954 after getting rid of the 92 RF. My wife says I am part squirrel when it comes to money.

225 horses are enough to get your attention!

Uh-Oh!! Now I've done it. It's been nice knowing all of you. I'll start packing now.

I can see it now. I try to log in tomarrow and . . .
Lesson learned - never have something that the head dudes Princess wants that he hasn't provided. That will just get you in trouble.
