Am I the only grumpy bastard that thinks funeral processions are a pain in the ass?

Ever try to go across town, only to be stuck in traffic by some stiff and about 50 of his closest friends? What the hell is the point of this in today's society? I don't know these people, and don't really give a crap that they are dead....so why the hell is it necessary that I pull and wait for them to pass?

When we lived on the frontier in towns of 400 people it probably made some sense. But in today's world, just what exactly is the point?

I'd really like to see this outdated custom go away, but I'll settle for a compromise. If a person deems himself worthy of a funeral procession on public roadways, he could pay a fee...say $10,000 per mile which would go directly towards reducing the road taxes in the affected county...

I actually kind of agree with you Bake. If its some important person I could see it but not your average joe. But when I die I want as many cars as I can at my funeral so I can **** with traffic as much as possible.

I agree with you Baketech, and I'm doing something about it. I think you and everyone else should pledge to do the same thing.

I stopped making friends and pissed off the friends I had, so there won't be a 50 car procession for me. Also, I plan to be incinerated so there won't be a hearse in the first place. All I'm paying for through my will is a disposable vacuum bag and 15 minutes of rental for a Hoover. Anything else, the funeral home has to clean up.

Also, what's up with paying for mowing the grass at the cemetary when I am a) not going to see it b) not having a picnic on it c) my dog cannot even go there and...go there and d) I'm already fertilizing it for free!

Does this include motorcycle processions? When a racing friend of mine died in a street crash, his wife (who must be near the top of the all time list of most understanding wives) asked that all riders who came to the funeral showed up on their bikes and in their leathers, as her husband would have wanted. It was packed.

there is a cemetary right across the street from my house, how about not being able to back out of your driveway everyother day because there is a procession passing by or out of common decency not being able to cut your grass, weedwhack, or play with the dirtbike when there is a ceremony going on, it does have its perks though, all the new neighbors that move in are very very quiet

Down here people stop for funerals. Used to be law (or so I heard) but everyone still does it. Not to bad unless it is in the city.
