Playing mp4 on windows

I got a quicktime mp4 that I want to give to someone on windows. How can I make it possible for them to play it (short of them installing QT)

mp4 the video standard? try video.lan and d/l the Video Lan Player, very good app, that. UI is so-so, but functionality is tops.

Yep can windows media player not handle it? I am trying to avoid having him download an app, however if I go with Cinepak it is 200+ MB since it is 13 minutes of video

tell him to download quicktime anyway because he should have it to begin with.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Playing mp4 on windows

then re-encode to .wmv, which I believe is really just another implementation of MP4 anyway (if I remember correctly, I may be wrong)

use Windows Movie Maker, it's quick and dirty, but works.
