Titan fly-by today

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3953187.stm

The Cassini probe is due to get "close" to Titan today after an epic journey.

PS A positive example of US / European cooperation.

Well, perhaps as a whole the US would qualify as a rebadged European / Asian import. LOL

Re: Titan fly-by today

Just the good parts...
As you well know, Amerikans lack the creative and quantitative talents to build anything of substance. Once we stepped beyond piling rocks and stones we were forced to seek outside help....

Hell, my family still lives in a sod house somewhere on the Kansas prairie....

Re: Titan fly-by today

.. and that's why Cassini had to hitch a ride on that nice US rocket all the way to Saturn so we could split off and do our own thing later.

Edit: not a NATO political comment or anything, please don't move this to politics

Umm...no...we were relegated that part due to the NIMBY principle.....

Even wonder why the ESA did not choose a more cost effective Frenchy launch vehicle? Because the Euro's shied away from the "ugly" task of sending 72lbs of Plutonium into space.

The European press villified the US for months during that phase....now that it is safely in Saturn's grasp they have spun it into a "great" joint venture...

Now that you are there, let's hope this dog will hunt better than a BEAGLE...

Re: Titan fly-by today

Methane and ethane huh? Gotta be a stinker there.

One these times some microbe from Earth is going to get stuck on these things, hook up with something on the planet, spawn a new species and there ya go... we become the food source. It is AVP all over again.
