Re: Christmas shopping

As a matter of principal I will not buy anything other than travel related gifts prior to Thanksgiving. I would love to avoid the travel items also but if it is something cool you have to get and store (although sometimes I just give for no reason and get a different Christmas gift)

Re: Christmas shopping

It's freekin' October. We haven't even bought Halloween candy yet!!!

I do all mine X/Mas Eve. Not because I procrastinate, but because Wifey works on our bank, so she can see all accounts we / I have. Anything I spend she knows about so I purposly wait till last day. However, I do window shop a few weeks before so I know what I'm getting that day.

Re: Christmas shopping

This year is going to be different since my family is all done exchanging gifts, so at most I will only have 1 gift to buy and I wont know until christmas week if I have to or not (hope I do)....but every year prior to this I stand by my original statement.

Re: Christmas shopping

Last minute is the way to go. I live downtown, and there is a big mall in the downtown that is absolutely deserted at night during the Christmas rush. It's great.

I hate you early shoppers. Dammit...let me at least enjoy Thanksgiving first!

I don't normally start this early. Usually I wait 'til at least the first week of December, but I found a good deal on something so I jumped on it(no, it didn't break).

Re: Christmas shopping

I always wait till the last possible minute. Don't know why but I always do it that way. Hell sometimes I even wait till after X-mas cause they have better sales.

Re: Christmas shopping

I am time challenged and one year almost forgot (thought I had 2 weeks and had 3 days) So while I wait until after T-day there is a high degree of paranoia involved.

Re: Christmas shopping

It's too late for this year, but I'm considering asking everyone if we not exchange gifts next year. It's just a hassel all around, and not really important to me.

That's okay HD since I haven't gotten your gift yet, that'll save me the trouble.

I did pick up a socket set for my son yesterday when I stumbled on a 50% off sale at Sears.

Usually, I'm a last minute shopper though.

Re: Christmas shopping

My wife has been in the habit of picking things up throughout the year - including the after Christmas sales - for kids' and extended family's gifts. I have done the same for a few things, but when it comes to personal gifts from me to her (or anyone else, really) I'll be at hell - er I mean the mall - the 23rd-25th.
