Liberty, Browning or Fort Knox. They are all made by locals.

Re: Who makes the BEST gun safe?

Look long and hard at the fire ratings. In a quick look Liberty made some interesting claims, Browning was not UL listed and Security Safe had ratings that went beyond one hour.

I have seen gun 'fire' safes with a rating based on 1100degrees and 0.5 hours which would seem very inadequate. Plus a relative had the misfortune of a house fire and lost guns in a 'fire' safe.

Another happy Cannon owner here too. I didn't like the external hinges on the Browning and Frontier safes.

I have one of these for my handgun. Kept the kids safe, fast access.Of course, I only have the one gun. I do use several motorcycles though....

I have been thinkin about getting one of those. Better than feeling around for my key.

I came here to chew bubble gum and to kick some ass...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

Re: Who makes the BEST gun safe?

I feel "safe"est with my Glock .40 right under the 2nd pillow on my queen bed.

In all seriousness, have never owned a gun safe, just felt like spouting off. Surprise, surprise, surprise! (Gomer).

But, since my first statement is a truism, I'm stickin' to that story. I do realize where you guys are going, being the owners of multiple weapons.

Re: Who makes the BEST gun safe?

IMHO, any safe that requires a blow torch to break into is a good safe. Therefore, I bought a Cannon safe because it wasn't too expensive and once bolted to the wall and filled with dissecent bag does a mighty fine job of keeping weapons and ammo safe and moisture free. However, I do like Fort Knox or Liberty for Best safe options as they will probably survive a really hot fire better than most.

Can you say 6 in a ROW!!!!

I like that one too. Don't want kids/thieves (are they the same thing?) getting to my hand cannon, but would like to be able to get it quickly myself.

Any feedback on it? Is it electronic, ie, requiring a battery?

Works perfectly, has a key override, and uses 8 AA batteries that last 15-18 months, we replace them yearly. I don'[t think it's crowbar-sledgehammer-chisel proof - it just keeps kids and strangers away and gives you access to a locked and loaded handgun in 5 seconds.

If someone tries to work through the combo, (which you program) it shuts itself off after 3 or 4 false attempts for a period of a coupe minutes to frustrate that kind of activity. Pretty well thought out piece, IMO

Re: Who makes the BEST gun safe?

Graffunder Safe makes the best safe by far. Otherwise American Security is the way to go. I got mine for www.thesafeoutlet.com Great company and good prices.
