but, is electricity dangerous?

Luckily I wasn't present for this, happened awhile back and was repaired - but I was surveying the unit and found the nicety and thought you'd all like to see.

Re: but, is electricity dangerous?

yeah, crazy ****. We just put an addition on a house and they had the electrical service wire moved to the other end of the house. When the electrician took down the old meter and wire he found that someone had stuck a 2 1/2" nail thru the soffit and directly into the wire. The hot leg shorted against the ground wire and melted the entire ground wire. This was the 220volt lead wire coming from the telephone pole into the house! I'm surprised nothing major happened!

Re: but, is electricity dangerous?

Nice repair, SHITTY tape job . Anyone can do electric work a real electrician delivers QUALITY.

Sorry my IBEW electrician side coming out for a minute. But simply spending another minute to make the tape job look better for those 480 volt conductors would have made the repair look alot better.

And I'm sure all of that telemechanique french crapola functioned perfectly in protecting the equipment downstream--by fusing every contactor, relay, and breaker...

Re: but, is electricity dangerous?

I'm no electrician, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to see the problem there. That charring on the panel portends a future potential disaster! Lucky, indeed!

Re: but, is electricity dangerous?

that whole thing needs re-work. Looks like the connection is not mounted to anything. thats worse than the charred box.

Re: but, is electricity dangerous?

A tap like that requires no mounting....

Was the arc created by the tap, or was the tap a repair of the incident that caused the arc....

Its on the side of a hinged door.
thats probably why the tap lost its insulation.

Re: but, is electricity dangerous?

I'm betting the original joint was a split-bolt with bulldog tape, and this is the fix....SSG, what's the word?
