So lately I've been craving something from music. Haven't been able to figure out what it is. I also shouldn't say lately, I've probably felt this way for around 7 years or more. I think probably w/ the death of "grunge". Not that I'm a huge fan of that style of music. Personally I think Nirvana was an overated punk band, but I digress...
While listening to the first Rage Against the Machine album the other day I think I figured out what it is:
I miss music that is trying to say something.
While I don't agree w/ all of R.A.T.M.'s messages I credit them for saying something w/ passion.
A yellow ribbon, instead of a swastica.
I tried to grip my family but I slipped.
Grip the mic, grip the stage, grip the system...
Then this morning I looked up Ani DiFranco on MusicMatch OnDemand (wich is worth every penny BTW), and while they only had one good song I remembered how impressed w/ her I was the first time I heard her stuff.
Sorry but I just don't get the same feeling from any of "Disturbed-like" crap that's currently out.
Just thought I would share.
