Mazda 3...anybody have one?

Thinking of getting a Mazda 3 for the wifey (and to help with gas costs) as our only cage is my Sierra 4x4. With gas at 2.31 a car would be nice for beating around. Anybody have one/ experience with one? Any history of problems etc?

That's the car I was going to get after I had the chance to test drive one. After we had a chance to sit down and talk with the sales man I found out there was a waiting list, so I ended getting another Civic. The car drove and handled very well seems to be a lot of car for the money. In terms of reliability, they havenít been out long enough but having owned a Mazda 626 I would say there pretty damn reliable.

50K miles on my 2002 Protege5 and 0 problems so far. Even though it's lacking on power, it handles like a champ and is pretty good on gas.

Re: Mazda 3...anybody have one?

Mazdas in general are great little cars.

I have a 626 with 62,000 miles and basically all you have to do is put gas, change oil and drive

I get somewhere in the mid 20's for MPG depending on how hard I am on the gas

Re: Mazda 3...anybody have one?

my buddy has one. he complains that gas milage sucks. In Canada, a full tank only goes about 400km before light comes on, that is pathetic.

Bear in mind he's a total leadfoot, and drives auto constantly in tiptronic mode.

Otherwise, a very well put together piece of kit. There have been several recalls out the gate though (fairly early adopter of the car)

Be fast or be last.

Re: Mazda 3...anybody have one?

My g/f has one. She's had if for about 8k miles - no problems so far. Handles very well, runs decent for a tiny engine, and is fairly big inside (for a compact).

I don't know what the mpg it gets exactly but I've never heard her complain it's bad. Pretty fun little car.

It will have to be a manual tranny for this purchase. Auto with a 4 banger is not to be.

As someone who once built autos this is totally true. Buy a 6 or learn to drive stick.

Must obey the sheep dog
