The Leupold Vari X III s are nice and priced fairly.

Leupold VX III SWFA

The Tasco Super Sniper is a great deal on a scope as well.

Re: Rifle Scope

Another good word for Leopold. Which one you decide on depends on it's intended use.

Re: Rifle Scope

Punching paper and slaying groundhogs.

One day I'd like to take a trip out west to cap some prarrie dogs. For now I won't be shooting beyond 2-300 yrds. But if I took that trip, then the distances would probably double that...maybe.

Then I like Rocket's Leupold recommendation. Great scopes for the money.

No, just morally obligated to call you a coward for owning a gun.

Sure if I wanted to stalk them (which I've done w/ my .45 ), but I want to snipe them.

Re: Rifle Scope

Yes, .223 can be fun with an AR, or mini or the like, as can a .243 or .270 from long distances.
However, when you're just out for a day of fun, nothing beats a semi-automatic (or full depending on your gunsmithing skills ) .22 when out taking care of varmits. You can work on your marksmanship, or just have fun putting lead into the ground and various varmits.
I always find myself going back to the "fun little bastard" after a few shots with the more potent rifles.
