Re: Rolling Stones Song Help

Perhaps you're thinking of "Spill the Wine" by War. I guess Eric Burdon does sound a bit like Mick Jagger on that one. This song has been on the soundtracks for Remember the Titans, Boogie Nights, and probably some others set in that era.
The lyrics are "spill the wine, take that pearl" but many people (including me) think it says "take that girl."

Nice catch, ST. I know that song but would never have guessed it based on the clue.

The key was the comma breaking up the phrase.

Re: Rolling Stones Song Help

Speaking of misunderstood lyrics, a friend of mine cracked me up with this version of the Rush lyrics:

"Fly by night, goodbye my dear
My ship is a comin' and I just can't pretend"

My friend heard:

"Fly by night, to buy my beer
My shipment's a comin' and I just can't pretend"

When Blue Oyster Cult first came out with 'Don't Fear the Reaper',

I thought it was 'Don't Fear the Reefer'

A friend of mine was constantly disgusted with Jimi Hendrex's Purple Haze until I corrected his lyrics, "it's not 'excuse me while I kiss this guy', it's 'excuse me while I kiss the SKY!!!"

You're welcome. I'm glad to help when I can.

Speaking of misunderstood lyrics (the "Purple Haze" one is classic), I always liked the line in "Bad Moon Rising" by CCR: "there's a bad moon on the rise" sounds like "there's a bathroom on the right."

Re: Rolling Stones Song Help

Here's a couple that guys at work have butchered over the years... See if you can guess the correct lyrics.

"Where was the thunder"

"You mess with her... you might get me"

"A glorified version of a pelican"

These always had me rollin'

Life always looks better through bugs on a face shield.

Is that Stevie Ray Vaughn's Pride and Joy? "You mess with her..you'll see a man get mean"?
