Cage Tires: 245/45/17

I am looking for some sporty-ish tires for my new 17x9's going on my Mustang SVO which I use for daily driving. Tire size above. I want to spend about $600 for the 4, symmetric sizes for rotate-ability, wet weather traction a factor but not the biggest, milage pretty important, I don't want to be changing them all of the time.

Suggestions?

Kumho Ecsta 712 Had them on my SHO and they were fantastic. You can get 20-30k out of them, possibly more depending on how you drive

EDIT: Tire-Rack had them for about $70 a piece for my application.

Best: Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP (don't know if they make that exact size)

Cheap: Kumho ECSTA Supra 712

Yikes, all they list is the run-flat, $250 each!

That's why I think a close size might be available in the non-runflat.

Anyways, the Ecsta's are excellent tires for the money

Inexpensive and quality tires - you'll be very pleased. I have around 4 sets on various friends cars and they all love em. I have a full set for the accord sitting in storage but they're 15" and wouldn't help ya much, sorry

You'll be quite pleased methinks. decent snow traction too!

Re: Cage Tires: 245/45/17

Is that the biggest size you can get on those wheels? I had 17x9s on my Z28 and they were 275/40/17. I realize the Mustang has different backspace and whatnot, but it's not like the 275s are squeezed on.

Re: Cage Tires: 245/45/17

It has more to do with the non-stock suspension under the car, where it locates the wheels, and the fact I want to be able to rotate tires.

It's a turbo 4cyl anyway, and the way they build power, they're MUCH easier to hook up.

Re: Cage Tires: 245/45/17

You can put 275's on the rear for sure but I would keep it at 245 or 255 for the front since it may rub. Ecsta Supra is my choice and its what I run in my 95 GT. 255's in front 275's in back.

Re: Cage Tires: 245/45/17

Nothing to tell yet. I'm changing the whole suspension/brake systems on the car at the same time and I've been too busy with other stuff so I haven't started. (I'm also missing a couple of parts)

Also, a friend and board member PM'd me a "hook up" for these tires at a local place, but I haven't been able to get ahold of the right guy, and it sounds like it's worth the wait.

Re: Cage Tires: 245/45/17

Well, I got ahold of the dude, and now have 245/45/R17 Kumho Ecsta ASX's mounted. The guy told me the 712'S are being phased out, and these do better in the wet anyway which is better.

Thanks to the .org'er who yet again, has saved me money! You know who you are.
