So, for the you that have played Half life 2, what do you think?

I would have to say its one of the best games I have ever played. Graphics are incrediable. Story is great (never even got close to beating the first one so its all new to me) Gameplay is hands down incrediable. Its hard but not super hard, its very engaging. It is a definite replay once i am done with it, and very few games do i do that with. I was happy to give my $55 for this game and i wasnt let down at all.

cant wait for HL3...In about 7 years.

Great game. My buddy pulled a prank on me and disabled the AI (you need AI so they can give you something to proceed). So like 15 minutes I'm stuck in this one area, and tried everything to stack crates to climb out, while he was just short of dying from laughter. I got nauseous and had to step back. I'm still feeling pretty crap.

P4 2GHz, Radeon 9700 is NOT enough HP to play.

Be fast or be last.

That sucks...I was hoping to be able to play it with some or most of the bells-n-whistles with a 2GHz/512RAM/64MB card combo.

chain, you're stink outta luck. I thought it was okay. P4 2Ghz, 768meg ram, Radeon9700 128mb ram, at standard settings of the game for 1024x768, everything was okay until I started meeting baddies in earnest. Once I went pass one particular point, it was choppy as snot. I had to ramp it down to 800x600, and even then, it's obvious that it isn't running 30fps constant.

Be fast or be last.

Sounds to me like even the release delay wasn't enough, and they rushed unoptimized code out the door. Seriously, if all the modern games can run smoothly on your system (as they should), there's no excuse whatsoever for HL2 not to.

They need to come out with a "patch"

Ahh, yap. I'd say you're right - no HL2 until I upgrade.

I finally decided WTF? and bought a copy of Half-Life 2. My machine runs it well at defaul res (800 x 600, yes?). What a blast, far better than the first installment.

It's not that hard folks. You already have most of the stuff you need to upgrade. Get a new vid card and processor. It's a lot cheaper than buying a new pc from dell. I'm piecing together a new pc right now for my girlfriend to use for her university online stuff. It'll be a p4 3.0 with hyperthreading with 512 ram, 80 gig hard drive, ATI all in wonder 9600 vid card (128 meg). I'm building this for a grand total of 350 bucks since I already have all the other parts.

Check out newegg.com if you haven't already. Got the 3 gig processor for 190, intel board for 110, and case for 40 bucks.

Back to steggy's post, no I haven't played it. I want CS source, but don't want to buy the whole HL package for 80 bucks.

No matter how beautiful a woman may be, some man somewhere is sick of her sh!t.

Not much new there other than some eye candy. The same old maps exist with scary good veteran players on the prowl for noobs. I'm tired of CS and am playing CoD for my multiplayer fun.

Well, I just finished up HL2 this morning. Overall, a great game, vast improvement on the first edition (which was a mind blower in its own right). Obviously opened ended in the last chapter. Wonder what awaits...
