Re: Is this for real?

Bull$hit.

What's the bill #? What committee is sponsoring it? Who is the representative proposing the "legislation?"

I remember when I was 7 years old, Nixon was running against JFK, and the word on the playground was that Kennedy would outlaw Halloween..

I didn't believe it then either.

Surely that has to be a piss take. There is no way that can be for real.

Re: Is this for real?

It has been in the news several times. Some DVD's already disable FFW'ing thru the trailers, you have no choice but to watch them. Sucks.

Re: Is this for real?

You guys are seeing it all wrong...they really just want you to have the most "theater like" viewing experience I mean you can't FF through anything there either right?

Next they are also going to make it legal for someone to break into your house and throw crap at you during said movie as well.

I know there is software out there to recode the movies, but the downside is you end up having to burn a copy of the original to do it, which poses its own set of problems for me. Duplication of anyones works other then your own is illegal no matter what the pretense.

Next thing you know they will be trying to outlaw surfing when a commercial comes on TV.

Re: Is this for real?

I'd like to see them outlaw the great female practice of talking during whatever show you're watching. They're quiet during the commercials, but squak uncontrollably during the show.
[Rant]We don't care what you're saying!!!! At least have the courtesy to talk during the commercials, and we'll have the courtesy to pretend like we're listening.[/Rant]

well you're allowed to make as many copies of it for yourself as you want for backup purposes. they don't really have ads in the movies except the previews. I've seen dvds with actual commercials on them (not many but a couple). and thats total crap for them to even be on there.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Is this for real?

That is pretty screwed up, considering I pay full whack for DVD's. If I were getting them at a heavily subsidised price, then watching the ads would be ok...
