Alexander

(the movie) was not so great.

about 2 hours longer than it needed to be.

But it DID get me interested in the history of the time. Spent the last few days researching a lot of cool history. Amazing stuff

O.K. fine, I can't help myself. He was supposed to show it, but made too many excuses on why he wasn't showing his ass, therfore it never appears in the movie.
Yes, I feel better now.

Re: Alexander

Bummer news figment. I read your film reviews carefully. You were right on about The Incredibles. Maybe I'll take a pass on this one now.

Re: Alexander

Haven't seen it, although I did watch about 3 hours worth of History Channel on Alexander.

I wouldn't pay to see it, but I do like Oliver Stone and Anthony Hopkins. Like someone else mentioned, since when did Alexander (Macedonian-Greek) have long blond hair?

Some interesting points from the History Channel;

King Phillip (Alexander's father) was one of the first to utilize 12-18' spears with counter weights on the end to balance. This gave an incredible advantage as thousands of soldiers struck their enemy before they were even in sword swinging distance.

Alexander was a prick, but also one brave/fearless warrior. Of course he was drunk with power before he was even 26 years old. Had his long time mentor executed for questioning Alexander. Burned down the (newly acquired) beautiful Persian city because he was completely wasted (drunk) from partying non-stop. Massacred the people of that island(?)because they were nervous about his request to worship in their sacred temple. He spent years building that bridge to finally slaughter all of them, except those who sought refuse in the sacred temple.

Finally, it was amazing to see all those countries divided back up after Alexander's death. All those who once fought togethor ended up fighting each other for 'pieces of the pie' in Asia that were promised to them for their loyalty. The more things change, the more they stay the same I guess.

Re: Alexander

figment that's how I tie my shoelaces...I thought everyone did it that way, so I'm surprised to find out that way was so difficult to untie.

Official Racer Dude Guy, according to a neighborhood 6 year old.

Rented this sleeper last night. BTW in the "director's cut" you see his ass, and his balls and if you look close the tip of his dong too. That's right before he tenderly plays bum darts with his femmy little man-servant. Lots of the man-love and eye shadow in ths one.

There were a couple of great battle scenes though; the one where greek / macedonian army faces off against the Persians is epic, and the battle in the jungle against the Indian tribesman was super gory. This is officially the first movie I've seen where an elephant gets its snout hacked off. Cool.

And then there's this asshole...

WHOA. Gay alert!
Me thinks you took that just a little too far. I don't care if that's actually what you do see. What I'm certain of is that I wouldn't have been paying close enough attention to make those kind of mental notes.
