Winter Phenomena: Part II

We had a fairly spectacular hoarfrost last night. Here are a few pics, although they don't really do it justice...

It was about -4 when I got up this morning...about 11am it was around zero, and it started falling from the trees in big chunks about the size of cotton balls..."snowed" the stuff all afternoon, and it was mostly gone by late afternoon.....

Ephemeral beauty. I'm surprised it gave up the ghost at 0 degrees! Was it sunny? Would that even matter at those temps?

edit: I'm going back and saving every one of those pics to the HD! Uh, they aren't copyrighted or anything are they?
