Mac Mini

I know Sheep will appreciate this one (if he hasn't already seen it) http://www.apple.com/macmini/
its the size of a small cd carrying case basically. only problem is it only has a G4 in it but a G5 needs way more cooling than you can fit in such a small package anyway. I'm really thinking of getting one. Its a big upgrade to my G4 400Mhz. But I have other stuff to pay for right now before I buy a new computer.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Entry level it would be cheap and fine for surfing, email and basic word processing, also fine for chatting and all the iApps (except maybe GarageBand although it would work).

I am not the target since I go high end but I bet it sells great, time will tell.

I know what a smilie is but the rest of that is gibberish.

I figure maybe good for a college student. I'd buy one if I had the money to waste right now. its a good upgrade to what I have right now even if it isn't what I really want. lets face it though $500 for that and a bunch of bike stuff or $3000 for the comp I really want. If I had to make that choice its a pretty easy one.

Seems to me that a regular notebook would do the same things only better for about the same bucks....

not if you want a Mac. lets face it if you want a Mac a winbloze machine ain't gonna cut it. When I went to college my mom said she saw a commercial for a dell for $700. I came back with an iMac for $1200 then said well how about this G4 for $1700, its a lot more upgradable. Then I needed a monitor too. So $1900 later I got what I wanted. I'll tell you it was a pretty slick move, still don't know how it actually worked on her.

at my school that woulda worked great. its not much of a desktop, it takes up so little room. There was no need to carry around a notebook there when there were computers everywhere on campus (top 50 of Yahoo's most wired campuses). And if I wanted to carry one around I could go and sign out and carry it around.

With a monitor and keyboard it takes up more room with a notebook....

I'll wager that if you polled college students they would prefer a notebook to a desktop by a wide margin...

While in most cases yes thats true but I can go buy a flat screen monitor with a built in tv tuner. then I wouldn't need a tv also so its less space total in the room. but come on think about it. a mac is for a mac person already. I do agree in a poll a notebook would take top billing but if it was taken of just Mac people then it would be very different.

so stop bashing my thread and get out
