How do you stay awake at a party?

OK, here's the dilemma...

I'm a day shift guy for the last three years. Until shift change when I can go back to afternoons (my favorite shift), I've got this problem, see.

Free agency put me back out there, occasionally hitting a party, the infrequent bar appearance, a late night out on a date, etc. So tonight one of the guys on my team, well, his sister-in-law is throwing this big bash at a kick ass hall, replete with full bar, a catered in dinner and live band. Sounds great, right?

My trouble is, since I typically get up about 0540 for work each morning, it's like Weekend at Bernie's on a Saturday night when I go out. I'm like the dead guy they have to prop in the corner because by about 10 o'clock I'm a veritable goner.

So what do I do? I'm not into mixers much anymore. If I were, I'd just drink Captain and Coke and stay awake that way. Nope, I'm pretty much a domestic bottle guy.

Think I should mix in a Red Bull halfway through the evening?

Pop some NoDoz? (ick- makes my stomach hurt)

Need help. Party starts in about 45 mins...

Re: How do you stay awake at a party?

Won't help you tonight, but some of the thermogenic supplements out there work pretty well and don't have as much caffine as a NoDoz. You're a healthy guy so you should be able to take them w/o any health risks, but you should decide for yourself. The current one's w/o ephadra don't work as well, but still work okay. I've been taking HotRox.

Just do what cops do best, just brag about all those arrests you made this week. That should keep you talking and plenty alert until everyone is tired of hearing from you.

Yep, methamphetamines are your best friend in a scenario like this. J/K Chain. Actually, would NOT have been kidding 35 years ago. Maybe lots of coffee?

Re: How do you stay awake at a party?

I was going to suggest a nap, but it's too late for that! Coffee, I guess. I get up for work at 4:45 am everyday, so I'm toast by 9 or 10 pm. I feel your pain! If I'm going to a party, I try to sleep in late on Saturday.

Too cold for the busa to come out, but the cop costume thing ain't a bad idea. What would the brass say though, what with me stumblin' around in the monkey suit.

I suck at taking naps, but you're probably right, that would be the best thing to do...

Couple lines of blow and you'll be the hit of the party.
