Re: Gmail invites

I was just thinking about GMail yesterday (I logged onto my account for the first time in a long time). I'm wondering if the beta version of the thing isn't taking off in popularity like Google probably figured it would. Maybe I haven't taken the time to really learn how the interface works, but the account I signed up for has sat idle for some time now.

Edit: Does anyone think that if this were going to get out of beta, it would have done so by now? Think they'll scrap it?

Re: Gmail invites

Yep, I think everybody got bumped to 50 and I got all of mine in groups of 6 before this (I have invited about 200). I chat with a few of my buddys and they also got 50.

For those using it, many good firefox extensions out there for gmail just don't do the file system extension it will get you kicked off.

Re: Gmail invites

yeah, I've got like 50 too...

I personally think it's the ****. The "pop" feature rocks, I send an email from my mail client and it gets put in the "sent" area of Gmail. Then when I log into Gmail, the email I sent from my mail client is there... Then, any mail I receive I can get with my mail client. Then when I log in, its still there as well.

But here's my question... for a guy who uses web based e-mail exclusively, do you think it's premature sending out a mass e-mail to all my contacts before Gmail gets out of beta?

I'm just afraid it might not come to fruition.

Re: Gmail invites

I think at worst, they will halt the expansion, but now that SOME people are getting 50 invites, Id say that wont even happen.... Take the plunge!

Re: Gmail invites

I still only have my 6 original invites. I've never used it, other than to sign up. I find it interesting that it's already getting spam, when it has never been posted or used ANYWHERE.

Re: Gmail invites

I have 50 now too. It must wait until you log in, since I haven't been there in months.

I'm using it some today, playing with the bells and whistles, and it's pretty nice, I must admit. I dislike not having my Yahoo Calendar, however.
