I am adequate and might be able to help if you ask the question. I have done some VBA although for serious crunching I fire up a compiler.

Why don't you post your REAL question already, and maybe someone can actually help you? Or are you just doing a survey of Excel geeks?

Re: Needed: MS Excel Savant

We're in the process of installing a new system and I'm in charge of organizing the test scripts. It's going to be a HUGE amount of info. I'm a fairly knowledgeable user and know how to summarize sheets within a workbook, but can you summarize workbooks? I need to create a searchable index and we think we'll have to have numerous workbooks to handle all the info.

If it's that intense, why not just import it into Access? Do you guys have a programmer in the building?

Yeah, what he said.

When we upload info into SAP at work, we do the info in Excel, and then we have a guy called The Doctor in Morristown NJ who is an Access savant. The first time I saw Access he did a spreadsheet of 8500 MRP items with 39 useable fields in each item and I was amazed. I took the Junior course of Access and it was unbelieveable the power that program had, and I only touched the surface.

As for your question, I don't think you can link Workbooks or combine them unless maybe you are a Macro Genius.

Re: Needed: MS Excel Savant

I agree 100% with the Access suggestion, being an avid Access user myself having created many databases I can say that this program can be configured to do anything, its more powerful then you can imagine for handling large amounts of data and also helps you automate importing Excel Files....

I don't kill flies but I like to mess with their minds. I hold them above globes. They freak out and yell, 'Whoa, I'm way too high!'

Re: Needed: MS Excel Savant

I have a little experience with Access but don't really know how to build much there. I had someone else set it up. It would be nice if we could keep it in Excel since that's more common and people down the line would be able to get what they need from it. Most people won't know how to build the right Access queries. That might be the answer though.
