You should reconsider

See, not all of them are your "typical NBA" player(whatever that is)....a lot of the positive things these guys do go totally un-noticed by the media....instead, they just want to paint a picture and hence, everyone thinks NBA players are spoiled thugs....I encourage you to give this a read...it should challenge your view of SOME NBA players....

I think the NBA needs more players like that. They could also set up more stuff thats leaguewide. The NFL works with a few different charities such as the United Way. As does MLB. The Red Sox have been a major funder of the Jimmy Fund for Cancer Research for many years. I've never heard of the NBA or teams doing anything like that (maybe I missed it though).

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: You should reconsider

They do charitable things but they just don't brag about it like the other sports do. My Knicks season tix were next to one of the charity sections sponsored by some of the players. I think about 4-5 players donated a section EACH to a different ghetto school each game. Doesn't seem like much but to those kids it was like Xmas. The Knicks set up a system where you can donate your unused tix to Make a Wish and places like that. For me it was useful cuz the tix were going to waste, I could get a tax credit, and some poor kid got to see his favorite players!

And as a side note, I remember an article about how the United Way is a total scam and like 40% of donated money is blown on overhead. Sounds more like a business than a charity! Not sure contributing to them is actually a very effective way of doing good on a bang-for-your-buck basis.
