Any scuba divers here?

Anyone?

Recently got my ow cert, and am started to look for gear. I want some regs first, as it's a hygiene thing. I like to know I'm the only one that has been sucking on the mouthpiece...

Anyone else go to scuba?

Z...

You're f%#&king up my Chi...

Re: Any scuba divers here?

Got my advanced cert a few summers ago but havent dived here since I went to Saba Island off the coast of St Martin... its like going from diving in a 100 foot visibility bathtub (saba island) to a 5 inch viz swamp (NJ waters)

Dont know if you guys get the same gear we had here but me and my buddy had great luck with Mares Regs.. primary and oct.

Also if you get into it more definately buy yourself a good computer... that was one great investment I made at the time

Re: Any scuba divers here?

yep, got 7 SW dives in Hawaii last year and am shooting for 10 in the keys this year. it is one of the coolest feeling things to do - especially when you happen across a school of dolphin

When diving in the caribbean I used to love just stopping for a min and spinning so I was facing the surface to just watch the activity above and think that noone up there probably has ever seen the beauty down below

I'll assume you knew how expensive this sport is before you went to look for your certification?

My daughter & I got invited for a free first lesson, and it's something I always wanted to do. So we went, and had a blast. Next day we went to the shop to check out gear.

Talk about sticker shock!!!

I like, and am in the process of buying, Zeagle gear... They can be a bit pricey, but great stuff.

Re: Any scuba divers here?

yup, open water scuba diver here! Got all the gear, BCD, 2 Al tanks, reg/gauges, wet suit, etc.. I haven't gone diving in a while but I'm definitely renewing my lobster license and going hunting this spring!!

It's great being underwater swimming around, isn't it!

Re: Any scuba divers here?

I have my rescue cert. and 98 dives, all over the place, including your back yard, Cairns and the GBR. That is quite a town, I have never seen so many beautiful women in one place!
If you can afford it, I definitely recommend getting your own gear. It is life support equipment after all.

Re: Any scuba divers here?

Master cert. but i do scientific research for the university so it's not from doing tons of exciting dives, but rather counting fishies.

I would certainly recommend getting your own reg. I've seen the way rentals are treated. I'm not suprised there's not more failures.. those things are usually full of sand.

Re: Any scuba divers here?

Next to sky diving I would say that scuba diving is way up on my list of things to do before I die. I really want to give it a try sometime but there's a lack of bodies of water here in AZ. So for now I'll just put my mask and snorkle on and lay in the tub or spa.

Re: Any scuba divers here?

www.scubaboard.com seems to be a decent online Scuba resource. As far as the best price, I am lucky as my local dive shop is very good to me... Check some local shops, then look online. The link above should have some sites to check out.
