spark plug help needed asap

so i am out cutting my grass and all is fine, about 3/4 the way through it sounds like it is missing. then it proceeds to sound like it is choking off because of no fuel. i add more fuel and the problem does not fix itself

i just pulled the plug and it is BLACK and smells of fuel.

is the plug the problem or a symptom of the problem? will replacing the plug fix the issue

Re: spark plug help needed asap

My guess is the float valve is stuck open by a piece of crud and it is flooding. The wet plug is a symptom.

that would explain why it ran through the tank of gas like a V10

Re: spark plug help needed asap

You might be able to just pull the bowl off and clean the valve/seat. If that doesn't work buy a new valve/seat.

This used to happen to me all the time on an old VW I had that had no fuel filter aside from a screen in the tank. I was too stubborn to put a decent fuel filter on it because the thing was pristinely stock...so I got used to pulling the bowl off by the side of the road.

edit: Oh yeah, while you're in there make sure there's no fuel inside the float (leak) and set the float height if you can find the spec.

as soon i left the computer i went back to the mower and thought I would check the easy stuff

As soon as i found it i started thinking karma is a BITCH

you would not believe it - it had so much grass in it that it choked out the mower. i cleaned it out and she fired up with all 12 cylinders. but now the flywheel spring is ****ed up beyond repair.

Re: spark plug help needed asap

so the part comes in today i get her all rev'd up and pull the rope she fires right up. i roll her about 20 yards and she dies. i can not get her to fire up again - has fuel, not flooded, has oil. the blade rotates and just not turning over.

i am freakin pissed at the lawn mower but the yeard needed to be cut, so i go and borrow my neighbors. i break the rope on his mother****in********inpeiceofshitnonlawnmowingwhor e is what my lawnmower is. now i am gonna have to buy another
