It sounds like neither of you have spent any time with a G4 or G5 based Mac.
They make any pc look like a pocket calculator with a dead battery. They're vastly more intuitive to use. Go to an Apple store where you can talk to salespeople who know everything about their product. As apposed to anybody selling pc's.

Re: A Glimmer of Hope for Apple

I always thought the G5 processors are great. I can't think of any advantage Apple would have from using Intel's chips. If they did, wouldn't they pretty much be like every other PC manufacuter trying to use the same chips (Pentium 4, Celeron) all with the goal of cutting every corner possible to make the cheapest system? Sounds like a bad idea IMO.

Re: A Glimmer of Hope for Apple

It is all moot any way since Microsoft is going to buy Apple and discontinue the Mac, change iPods to operate on Microsoft Bob and integrate MS Word into iLife.

Even with all those improvements, I still doubt they would sell enough units to break even...

Depends . . . It could be big endian or small endian or CISC or RISC. All could drastically affect the performance of the OS especially with current software.

Re: A Glimmer of Hope for Apple

But why would an already "perfect" OS need a speed up...
