Not bad. Now I'd like to see them build a manual tranny to go with it that actually works.

"The world's most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine" at 510 HP? Better not tell any of the NASCAR teams this information, they'll have to get rid of about 290 HP on their long track motors . . .

which makes the new power pack by AMG the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated eight-cylinder production engine.
Keyword "production", I've yet to see a car from the good-ole-boy network sitting in traffic on the interstate.

Re: so you like AMG, huh?

Maybe you need to check the GM "sport" engine package book. You can purchase off the shelf 650 HP complete engines (before kit) and even special order your new Monte Carlo with one of them.

Awesome. I'm glad M-B is now getting away from their SOHC 3-valve design.

And then there's this asshole...

Huh?

REALLY? In a front-drive car?
What's the engine designation? Carbureted, I'm sure?

sorry, but the Monte Carlo just recently became FWD since several racing associations dropped the homolgation requirements. My book is a couple of years old. There are about 6 different base engines ranging from a 350 CI carburated 460 base HP platform to a 520 CI 1100 HP ProStock/Drag building block system. There is also the Mercury marine series of motors which find their way into several racing classes.

Re: so you like AMG, huh?

OK, you are correct. I wonder how many units of the AMG will be sold in North America. Also, isn't a Lambourghini a production car? I read something about a 1340 HP motor last year for all 10 units of a particular model. While this wasn't an eight cyclinder motor, it just seems that the AMG "press release" was much ado about nothing to me, especially considering the price range and the fact that a mildy tuned Busa can produce more than half of the AMG numbers at a fraction of the price with only four cyclinders.

Re: so you like AMG, huh?

I hear ya. I worked for Mercedes-Benz Canada at a corporate level back in college... THeir arrogance as a company never failed to astound me. THey're so convinced that their cars are so infinitely better than anyone elses that they can't admit when they have a problem. I was actually reprimanded a couple of times for not being "loyal" to the company. And this was only because I questioned the "excellence" of some of their products. I did get to drive some cool cars though.

And then there's this asshole...
