As they walked toward the tree, a limb estimated to be 2.5 feet in diameter broke and fell, hitting Blanchard.
2.5 feet in diameter? That's either an exaggeration or a mistake - right?

2.5 FEET in DIAMETER? That's like a medium tree all in itself!

Poor guy.

I think it was a VERY LARGE tree, with very large branches.

Re: Local Firefighter Killed

Man that does suck. When I used to work for a tree removal company that was one of the worst fears we had. A Widow Maker(as they are called in the industry)coming down from an adjacent tree and ending things. I have almost been hit by two. RIP .

Godspeed, brother

Keep the fires in heaven at bay.

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.

Re: Local Firefighter Killed

May you rest in peace brother! God bless your family too!

I know what it's like, last year I got hit by a falling tree, about 2ft diameter. Knocked me out cold and got me 23 staples in the head but I'm not too much dumbererer from it. Very scary indeed knowing what could have happened!
