I just saw the most insane...

...thing I've ever seen before.

Great White: Uncaged, a show on Discovery for shark week. These head-cases were swimming with great whites OUTSIDE OF THE CAGE. Then the lead lunatic reaches down and grabs the dorsal fin of this 13 footer and hangs on for a ride!

This is all after they toss in a manequin and watch how the sharks react to it. They only gave "Bob" some "gentle" bites...you know, to unimportant places like the face, knees, feet and hands...several times.

I plan over diving with sharks some day and would even do a cage dive with Whites if the opportunity presented itself, but this was just plain nuts.

Re: I just saw the most insane...

Have dived with sharks before (not th epurpose of the dives - they just happenned to show up) and to be honest, it was not scary at all. It was awesome! Have swam with Leopard sharks, various reef sharks and am planning on doin s dive with grey nurse sharks in local waters in summer. would also love to dive with hammerheads and tigers.

Re: I just saw the most insane...

Leopards and nurses are very docile and won't attack. I have been on dives with them before. Hammerheads and tigers are NOT docile. However I think if you know what you are doing, you can be in the water with them safely as you are not a normal source of food. If you are feeding them however, that's where I get out of the water. Those boys can get carried away and bite things they don't mean to bite.

Re: I just saw the most insane...

I ran across a 3ft nurse shark on a dive once. I touched its back and it swam away.

However, I've had some scary encounters with barracuda and moray eels. Those scare me more than sharks.

+1
Catching lobster, I flipped over a piece of wood and a moray came after me. I side stepped and he missed me, right then the water went from chest deep to ankle deep in that instant.

Re: I just saw the most insane...

Screw that...you guys are nuts. I'll start doing wheelies down the freeway in a tshirt and shorts and no helmet before I go swimming with a shark.
