Well I sustained an injury at work today and lay hurt in front of the tv right now. Apparently horseplay at work is dangerous I like my job I work for one of my friends doing installs for a lumber company (sheds, kitchens, windows, doors, swingsets, floors and maybe decks soon) I like what I do but only work out in the field when theres work, otherwise warehouse work or leaving early are my options which neither is for me. But as I'm watching tv a friend calls and says his just official as of 2 weeks ago brother in law wants to know if I am interested in doing the software end of installing security systems. Very local vs my 4 city commute now, more money and seems like interesting work. I agreed to an interview to see what its about but I'm wondering do I stay where I am for job security (large company vs small co.) and work with my friend or go for the probably better opportunity with added risk? Any thoughts/opinions would be nice.

Your young, and if your a hard worker, you will always be able to get a job. Go for the better oppertunity and see where it plays out. You will never get anywhere staying still at the same old job. Go for it!

Go for it. If nothing more, it'll be a good learning experience and you'll be able to recover easily since you don't have a family to take care of

Agree with everyone above but be VERY careful working for family. Having a relative as a boss (or worker) brings "extras"

I love my job, it's great money and pretty secure, but I'm going for my Real Estate license. Something different that I can make my own hours at, be my own boss, take vacations without getting fired, and make a **** load more money. It's a tough choice to make when it comes down to it, but I say go for it.

Well I guess taking this job seems to be the popular opinion, guess I'm just not the live life on the edge spot decision making kind of guy. I'll let everybody know looks like tuesday is the big day

ok now that you've got the input how about some for me. I have an interview at AAA to be a tow truck driver tomorrow (sort of a last resort, I'll take it for now kind of deal) and Pepsi finally called me back and I have an interview to be a bay delivery driver (deliver to stores) on friday. so I don't really need input just wish me luck for friday.

Go for it, young dumb and single means you have the right. Sounds like a better career opportunity too.
