Do you like the taste of antifreeze?
This just posted on our company Intranet:
Jeffrey Bye, vice president of Honeywell Consumer Products Group’s Prestone® brand, testified Tuesday in front of a U.S. Senate subcommittee in support of legislation mandating a bitter-tasting chemical to be added to all antifreeze products to prevent children and pets from accidentally ingesting it. According to the Doris Day Animal League, a Washington advocacy group, approximately 1,400 children and 10,000 household pets ingest antifreeze each year. With state laws regarding the bittering agent already passed in California, New Mexico and Oregon, and eight other states considering similar bills, Bye testified that Honeywell’s Prestone® business would support legislation that would set a uniform standard and simplify the production and distribution process. According to Bye, the proposed legislation would “provide fair responsibility for the antifreeze … products by assigning liability between the respective manufacturers.” Honeywell is the largest manufacturer and supplier of antifreeze in North America.
