Intel to build plant in AZ

http://news.com.com/Intel+to+build+n...2816&subj=news

This, coupled with last weeks news of companies starting to bring jobs back from overseas is quite relieving. Hopefully it's the beginning of a trend(or the reversal of another)

Re: Intel to build plant in AZ

It's about ****ing time.

The "low labor rate" is a double edged sword, and when it comes to silicon production, is not much of a cost savings. Most of the cost of a fab is the equipment and logistics as mentioned. US labor's productivity rate is also the highest in the world which helps offset the cost.

Building in China imo, is very risky long term.

I'd been told about a year ago by an Intel insider that they would not ever build another fab in the US. I wonder what changed the minds. (or if he was just plain wrong)

Well, the article does say that they looked at offshore candidates(if I understood correctly). I wonder if the tax break tipped the scales enough to warrant building it at home Maybe they were worried about someone stealing their technology overseas.

No risk at all, I am 100% they will steal the technology and stab you in the back on your market.

Must obey the sheep dog
