Air Show Pics

A few pics from the local airshow for the plane people out there (and some landgoing vehicles).

A WWII era trainer with a familiar name on it...

Re: Air Show Pics

A Waco biplane and view from the fore cockpit.

I was a tad worried about the oil on every cylinder head cover, though it was probably just there for realism. The backfire when he throttled up for takeoff also added to the excitement.

Re: Air Show Pics

It was difficult getting an unobstructed view of this F4. It always had a crowd around it.

Check out the tug next to it.

I first thought this was an F6F but now don't think so. Can anyone identify it?

Not your everyday hotrod. The owner claims he's seen 200mph in this thing.

AvGas looking more affordable these days.

Re: Air Show Pics

What used to be a TypeII. Wild Bill is a local tattoo artist who owns several high $$ hotrods. Who knew the tat business was so lucrative?

And a very clean old BSA.

Re: Air Show Pics

That's just the lighting, though. It is definately an F8F.
Here's another shot where you can't see the break:

That one has the air vents on the cowling that was only added on the H version. I'm not certain the H was built for carrier deployment and didn't have articulated wings. The F4F/F6F and F8F all shared a lot of common features so it could be a NOS retrofit.

and your girlfriend too.

Awesome pics, the P51 is my most favorite plane of all times. Love the sound they have.
