Need advice for trailering a car

I'll be trailering my Road Runner to the body man soon and need some advice. I bought a 2 axle 7k# car trailer today (deal of the century baby )and need to buy some straps. Should I get axle straps like here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AXLE-...spagenameZWDVW
and then use these to hooks to secure it to the trailer?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Auto-...spagenameZWDVW

I basically know jack about how to do this safely so your advice would be appreciated.

I came here to chew bubble gum and to kick some ass...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

In the old cars they removed them (most of the time) after they shipped them. When i rented a trailer I used the strap that wrapped around the front tire but this one doesn't have that feature unfortunately.

Re: Need advice for trailering a car

What equipment you use is up to you, it's just personal preferance. When securing the car, always "stretch" the load. What I mean by that is secure the device to the cars axle / control arm (not the body) and pull out in front and to the back. As far as equipment for securing a load my preferance is chain and binders.

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.

Re: Need advice for trailering a car

I concur with Hammer. When tying down our off-road 4x4 rigs we throw a heavy chain around the front axle from one side, under the diff, and over the other. Also have winch tightened down to the front for extra security. Then, put the vehicle in reverse and tighten down the front. Next wrap some chain and binders around the back axle and tighten to hell. Even with 38" tires and 8psi the vehicle won't move more than a few fractions of an inch. For a smaller, wussier car you won't have to worry as much. Hell, I towed a car 40 miles with just the e-brake, even though it was a trailer with sides and tailgate!
