Bought a laptop today.

Bought my first real computer today. Toshiba Satellite: M45-S169. I don't plan on doing alot of high intensity functions, so it should be way plenty for me. Just wish I knew more about computers and could set everything up the way it should be. Guess I will learn eventually.

Re: Bought a laptop today.

I just recently bought a laptop too. Dell Inspiron 9300. Other than the crummy X300 ATI grfx card, it's a really great desktop replacement.

Re: Bought a laptop today.

Nice buy. I have a satellite new P35-S611. It's a great machine. I have a 3 year old Toshiba laptop also that is still working great. I like toshiba just because I've had my last one for 3 years, abused the hell out of it and it's still working!!

Re: Bought a laptop today.

Hmm, as far as performance. Both my Toshibas are great. I have one that is 3 years old. Can't remember ever opening the screen and not having the computer on? Never had a software crash? On both, I open the screen and do what I want. Never worried about what would happen if it didn't work because it always does. It has an awesome widescreen display, a kickass video card, a big hard drive and more than enough power for whatever I need to do. I have a desktop that has a better processor and more memory and the only thing I use it for is a wireless access point for my printer! With my three year old toshiba I did have to replace one of the screen hinges. I fully admit that I abused the hell out of this laptop, watched movies on the laptop while plowing and threw the computer on the passenger seat when I crashed into the guardrail. There was way more than normal wear and tear and it held up great. It's still kicking now. I got a new one only because my wife gets to get a new one from work every few years! I don't know if it's better than other brands but I do know it works great for me!!

Re: Bought a laptop today.

Good to know someone else is happy with their Toshiba! I'm just going to use it for watching DVD's, playing CD's, some Excel use, Word, and alot of internet browsing.

Re: Bought a laptop today.

Toshiba makes a sweet laptop. I had one for about 8 months before I got my Mac and dragged it with me everywhere I went. Never a problem with it. A buddy has had his for about a year now with zero problems. We also have several at work and at ~3yrs old still running like champs...can't say that about the 6 month old Vaio's Toshiba =
