Nine Inch Nails video

Anyone else see the "ONLY" video yet?

Very cool.

Re: Nine Inch Nails video

Outstanding video!!

Such a simple concept, but very well done.

But the tune seems kind of lame. How does the rest of the album sound? This tune sounds like an updated version of something that would have appeared on Pretty Hate Machine. Very radio friendly.

I'm more in tune with The Downward Spiral and The Fragile. So I have been holding out on getting With Teeth.

Worth it?

Re: Nine Inch Nails video

Scout, what did you think of the tune?

Are we basically on the same wave length here?

Trent is a sonic genius, but this seems like a bit of a regression.

Re: Nine Inch Nails video

I've only heard the other single off the album, "Hand that feeds" so I don't know. I do like that one, while "Only" falls into the ok category.

True dat on the regression. I thought maybe it was a garage day song that never got released or something. Not sure what to think about this. Gonna have to hear the rest of the cd to make a clear judgement... Going to break out my Pretty hate machine cd now. Haven't listened to it in months.

Re: Nine Inch Nails video

Yeah, it sounds like a song off a "bridge" CD. What I mean by that, is I have faith NIN (Trent) is going through a little introspective period, and will come out with something "less forgiving" on his next outing. I hope so anyway.

I liked the tune, but I've liked their slow, softer stuff as well as their harder stuff.

I've got all the songs for pretty hate machine, though the my actual cd(s) have been stolen/ lost twice. I was told it's out of print for right now, so I just have to locate a copy. I picked up both versions of the second album when they came out, and have downward spiral , and further down the spiral. I recently went out to pickup the newer ones (which I also have some songs from), but got sidetracked by Ministry- In case you didn't feel like showing up (live)(1990?), and Curve- Doppleganger (from 1992).

I did manage to pickup NIN- Rusty Nails II, put out by Dragon Records (I'm sure a black market label). If you liked everything through Down. Sprl. you'll like this if you can find it. It has remixed and unreleased off the first three
and the whole album is continuous mixed. Highly recommended.

Re: Nine Inch Nails video

Okay people, picked up The Fragile and With Teeth over the Holidays.

Here's my take:

The Fragile- more like Broken, or The Downward Spiral. Fragile has some harder songs, and some Downward Spiral type angst.

With Teeth- more like Pretty Hate Machine, and/ or the Downward Spiral (slower type beats). With Teeth is a more calculated use of music, though it gets busy (like 24 tracks or layers of music/ vocals), it comes off quite a bit softer than both Broken and The Fragile.

These are just generalizations though. So if you generally like NIN, pick up both - I wasn't disappointed by either, though I was pleasantly suprised of the quality and quantity of The Fragile.
