Anyone see DOOM yet?

As a guy who began his gaming life with the original DOOM title, I thought the movie was entertaining, a pretty solid adaptation of a video game to the silver screen. There is a 3-4 minute sequence near the end that is shot in the classic FPS perspective and it really made the flick. No Academy Awards will be handed out on this one, but if you came up playing DOOM on the PC, you'll probably enjoy the movie.

Re: Anyone see DOOM yet?

Haven't seen it yet but plan to. I like the original Doom game. Was a nice upgrade from Castle Wolfenstein at the time. I like the actors in the Doom movie so I figure even if the plot blows I'll probably enjoy it anyway.

Thought the samething as well. Personally, I don't go to the movies to "think/mull" plots out. So this fits the bill.

Re: Anyone see DOOM yet?

hey, I'm all about doom. Finished both Doom 1 & 2 on a 386-25DX machine with 4 megs of ram. Having said that, I think the movie looks really dumb. I think I'll wait for the DVD.

Be fast or be last.

I've never watched a video-game based movie that didn't lower my IQ. Angelina has nice tits though.

And then there's this asshole...

I went in thinking it was gonna eb really dumb but it actually wasn't bad. Just don't go in thinking its gonna be an oscar film and if you liked the game you'll enjoy the movie.

that FPS part at the end was pretty damn cool. This was probably the best video game movie adaptation I've seen.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Anyone see DOOM yet?

Didn't have the best plot but then again most movies don't especially one designed for a video game. I felt that the director did a fine job until the ending which I thought they may have ran short of funds. But considering it being a video game-to-movie type of film, it was excellent conforming to the video game's storyline except for the mutiny part. Overall, the Imps look pretty convincing but that horned bull-looking demon... Damn, if only it wasn't just half a demon. On a side note, I wonder how the film would turn out with one of those sixteen-foot tall hell knights.

Re: Anyone see DOOM yet?

I have a 11, 13, and 14 year old who want to see it. I know it's rated R, but is that just for the violence? Considering they have Doom 3 for their xboxes, I can't see how this could be much worse. Is there any nudity, or just shitloads of foul language?

If it's just violence I might take them.

Am I the only one that finds it ironic in the US we don't seem to care about murdering a gazillion people on TV or in movies, but we get all excited about naked boobs?

The Euros definately have this one right.

I was just going to point that out. I like Fig, nice guy, but I found that statement a bit odd.
Violence good, boobies bad?
