Thoughts and Prayers for a Friend Please

Just found out one of my good friends from high school (year younger than me) had a full-term stillborn baby this week. He's a very spiritual person, so hopefully that will carry him through this. Those who pray, please say a special one for Mitch.

Is a paradigm worth 20 cents?

Re: Thoughts and Prayers for a Friend Please

Oh man, that is so tough. A very close friend of mine's wife finally got pregnant with their first boy. It was tremendously exciting as they'd been trying hard, read all of these books on how to make a boy etc etc. The due date of the baby was my birthday.

2 weeks before he was due, the baby suddenly died. No known cause. She had to go through the whole labor process. The funeral was the most incredibly sad thing.

She is now again pregnant and so far things are good. Remind your friends there is hope.

+1 I have known more than a couple that lost the first to still birth and now successfully have a healthy child. Some are just to good to be subjected to the BS of this world and go straight on

Must obey the sheep dog

Sorry to hear that. I will send one up for them.

I came here to chew bubble gum and to kick some ass...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

This was their third, the first two are healthy, normal adolescent girls now. It was a difficult decision as money's very tight for them, but my friend wants a boy sooooooo bad they decided the risk was worth it.

You just never know with kids. They're a roll of the dice.

Re: Thoughts and Prayers for a Friend Please

My brother and his wife had this happen to them many years ago. Having witnessed the birth of my beautiful son I can't even come close to imagining what having something like this happen would do to a person.

I'm so terribly sorry to hear of this, TB.

Prayer sent. I understand your friend's pain. Wife and I dealt with this ourselves in July. There is nothing more eerie and sad than the moment of birth and the delivery room is completely silent.

Re: Thoughts and Prayers for a Friend Please

Very sorry to hear of the other losses. I know it's not that uncommon of a thing. My friend and his wife are already parents, so hopefully that helps some.

Re: Thoughts and Prayers for a Friend Please

My mom and my aunt both miscarried once, but never a full term stillborn.
That is very sad, and I can't even imagine what it does to a mother and father - particularly the mother.
I hope your friend and his wife can try to stay positive. They will have a wonderful child in time I am sure.
You and your wife as well, seamus.
Children in that situation were too good for this place and moved on immediately to a better life, according to my beliefs.

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.
