Question for iPod owners

Besides the iTunes store, where can I download music? The format from songs purchased from Wal-mart isn't compatible. Thanks!

Don't worry about it, you're gonna die from bird flu soon anyway.

Re: Question for iPod owners

Not sure...

The iPod will play about anything that is 'standard', meaning non-microsoft format. What format is the wal-mart stuff?

mp3s, AAC, wav, lossless, and other std coding schemes are supported. Depending on the wal mart format, you can probably re-encode it to the format you can use...

Re: Question for iPod owners

I can't use Kazaa here at work and our computer at home is too old for iTunes. This is from Wal-mart's site:

Will Wal-Mart Music Downloads play on my iPod?

At this time, the Apple iPod will not play Wal-Mart Music Downloads files. Our files are in the WMA format with Digital Rights Management (DRM) encryption. Many other digital devices will play our files.

One more reason to hate Wal-mart...

Re: Question for iPod owners

I don't have a problem playing anything on my Rio.

I know that doesn't help, but I thought I'd rub it in a bit.

Will it let you burn it to a CD? If so, then just re-import it into iTunes... One easy way around that...

I hate wma...

You know, I've made my peace with Walmart. I used to really hate them, but we're cool now.

Re: Question for iPod owners

I'll try the CD thing. Good idea!

Wal-mart isn't saying "Merry Christmas" this year because they don't want to offend anyone. Who the hell is offended by "Merry Christmas"? It's a federal holiday! But I digress...that has nothing to do with music.

And Mo, we'll be around this weekend if you want to show off that new ride.

Well now you've gone and done it, I'm going to file a complaint with Wal-mart stating I am offended by employees using terms like:

"Hello"
"How are you today"
"Is there anything I can help you with"
"Did you find every okay"
"Have a nice day"
"Welcome to Wal-mart"
"Is there anything else you need"
"What exactly can I do for you"
"Thank You"
"That'll be $_______"
"I'm sorry but this card is stolen"
"You're card has been rejected sir"
"Yes"
"No"
"Excuse me"
"I'm sorry we're currently out of that"
"We dont sell that"
"Would you like a bag"
"This is monopoly money, you can't pay with this"
"We will be closing in 15mins"
"We're closed"
"Thank you for shopping at Wal-mart"

Well, here goes...

I used to really HATE Walmart. For a long time I would boycott them and try to buy stuff at their Canadian competition... Zellers, Canadian Tire, Hudson's Bay COmpany, etc. But I keep coming back to price. The price is just so much cheaper at Walmart that it's foolish not to buy there. Now they have groceries too... so I can drive to one store instead of 2 or 3, and I'll pay less for everything. So I figure, why should I punish them for being better than their competition? They started as a small business like everyone else. They were just better at it. I don't really give a damn if they bankrupt their suppliers, mistreat employees, whatever.

I still hate going in there; the aisles are too close together, there are too many people with their screaming snot-nosed children, and the line-ups at the cashier take too long... but it's not so bad as to make me forget about how much cheaper the prices are.

And then there's this asshole...
