Re: The common cold!!

I feel your pain, I spent the last week and a half or so sidelined due to a nasty headcold.

My strategy is take dayquil & nyquil, but more importantly DRINK OJ! I go through a gallon or more in a day when I'm sick and can usually kick it in a day or so.

Disclaimer- OJ may not work for all ppl, if you are allergic to orange juice do not drink lots of OJ to get rid of cold.

Re: The common cold!!

Mine go away faster if I just stick to normal daily stuff, resting and medicine seem to prolong them for me. So I just tough them out, drink a lot of water and they're gone pretty quick

Another disclaimer for anyone who smokes, has asthma, a history of pneumonia, or any other impaired lung function....it's safer to NOT use Nyquil or anything else that contains a cough suppressant. Better to tough out the cough than to invite pneumonia.

Re: The common cold!!

Zicam nasal swabs.

The package will insist you use one new swab every four hours.

(They want to sell Zicam.)

Open a swab in the morning, first sign of a cold. Use it. Keep the little sleeve with the residual gel (you can use a clean Q-Tip out of the medicine cabinet to administer the remaining gel two more times that day, noon and night).

I came down with a sniffle mid-day Monday. I've been using these swabs on my SO's recommendation since. Today I am symptom free.

I rarely take any medicine whatsoever, but I swear by this stuff.

Re: The common cold!!

Lots of fluids. Water, tea. During the day I'll take a Sudafed. At night I can't take anything with the Sudefed ingredient, the pseudoephedrine HCl. Even the ones that claim to make you drowsy, like Nyquil. That stuff wires me and I cannot sleep.

Re: The common cold!!

Jack & Coke

[edit] lots and lots of Jack and Coke

[edit to the edit] Nevermind, that's just my normal daily routine. +1 for the OJ but I add 1000mg vitamin C pill to the mix each morning.

Re: The common cold!!

Echinichea and 2000mg of Vitamin C every 2 hours. If that doesn't cure you, you probably have HIV.
