Ipod/Itunes question

I sold the Ipod, if I leave the music on it and they install itunes, will it delete it seeing the music isn't in their library? Or will it update their new library?

Re: Ipod/Itunes question

It shouldn't delete the music unless they opt to "sync" when they're installing i-tunes.

Re: Ipod/Itunes question

So if they don't have the ipod connected during install, install itunes, and then connect the ipod they should be ok? How do they then add the songs off the ipod to their library? (as you can see I didn't use that ipod the 2 wks we had it..lol)

Yes, but during install i-tunes will ask for ser# of i-pod. That's how it's recognized. That's also why youcan't use 2 ipod's off the same i-tunes (unless you get the aftermarket plug-ins).

During the install, a window will come up that asks if you want i-tunes to sync with your i-pod. Answer "NO". That way nothing from the i-pod library will be erased. You will still be able to add onto i-pod. The "sync" has to do with arranging your i-tunes library, and having your i-pod library set up the EXACT same way. "Sync" will automatically "update" your i-pod when you connect it, instead of manually adding and deleting songs/ playlists.

Re: Ipod/Itunes question

Without aftermarket plug-in, they won't be able to add to their library from their i-pod, only library to the i-pod.

Re: Ipod/Itunes question

Hmmm...sounds like the easiest thing to do is just give her a dvd with the music...that way if they sync the ipod and lose it...she has it.

Re: Ipod/Itunes question

Usually it will ask to associate the iPod with the new library it finds...i'd burn it to cd or dvd or whatever then have her import that into her library...then connect the iPod and sync with her entire library
