LCD TV's

What's the general concensus on LCD TV's?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...c.asp?CatId=37

Some of these seem like a pretty good bargain for the average non-TV fanatic person.

I'm looking to replace my 22" CRT monitor with dual 19" LCD screens, but for about the same cost(likely less) I could get one of these TV's and pull double duty.

I've been looking at these too. Something around 26-27"... There are a billion new generic-sounding brands, I don't know what's considered good. THe Samsungs seem decent.

Anyone?

And then there's this asshole...

Re: LCD TV's

I have a 42" Samsung DLP. As said earlier, they are well known in DLP and LCD.

Although you guys aren't talking about DLP, if you decide you want one, make sure you sit down and watch one for a while. Some people (I think it's less than 10%) can see "rainbows" when watching them. I am one of those people.

It's not so annoying I want to sell the set, as otherwise it is great, but it's something to factor into your decision.

Re: LCD TV's

My buddy ordered memory from them recently - they didn't actually mail him the items ... at all. I believe he finally got it solved but it took a long time. Just FYI.

On another note: I just bought two LCDs this past weekend - an AKAI (32") which I have yet to actually set up and a Phillips (also 32"). So far, not terribly impressed with the Phillips. The color isn't great and it takes a long time to 'gain' color.

Re: LCD TV's

I went to see these LCD TV's and they look GREAT!!! The only problem is their price. I just can't justify spending $2000 to $3500 on a big screen TV that I will only watch sporadically.

I did find a compromise though. A Sanyo 32" flat screen CRT (not widescreen) that is HDTV compatible. I saw the HDTV transmission on this set and it was phenomenal. It was even on sale for $529 (CAN).

Bikes and women - both have nice curves.
