Coinstar not a bad deal.

I Just got rid of about a gallons worth of change. I expected 50 or 60 bucks from it but i actually had 172.01.

Quarters 5
Dimes 974
nickels 768
Pennies 3496

They have a bunch of choices for gift cards that do not charge you the 8.9c fee. i picked amazon. I plan on getting a cannon SD450 digital camera.

Now i have half of what my new Digital camera is going to cost.

Although i wonder how much cash i had to spend to aculate all that change.

Re: Coinstar not a bad deal.

Maybe I'm a lazy phuck, but my time isnt worth 8.9% to bother seperating an rolling change up. I always use the coinstar when my change cups get full. A vegas slot cup is about $80 in mixed change.

Re: Coinstar not a bad deal.

Five gallon drinking water plastic bottle here. Usually empty it when about 1/2 full. $1k or so.

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.

I never carry cash so I never have change. And in the rare occasion that I do have some change, it goes to Tim Hortons.

And then there's this asshole...

'keep the change' program from Bank of America - I actually have a savings account now

why put off today what you can wake up late and forget to do tomorrow.

Re: Coinstar not a bad deal.

I dump my cups into a bag and take them to the bank to get counted when I happen to be going that direction.

Re: Coinstar not a bad deal.

I laugh at the retards standing in line to use those machines in the grocery store every week...there's a phucking bank a block down the street that takes loose change for free, and they are standing in line to hand over 7+ percent...

Re: Coinstar not a bad deal.

I've resisted using a Coinstar because I don't want to give them the percentage. I don't think my bank takes loose coins, I'll have to ask. I suppose I could wrap them whilst sipping egg nog. I've been putting it off for years and my jar is overflowing!

I asked my local BofA in college and they didn't want it. I was a poor student, and I wasn't giving 7% to anyone, so I would roll my own.

But I have used Coinstar once since then...

Re: Coinstar not a bad deal.

I dont know what you guys are talking about, most banks don't take rolled coins anymore so its much faster and free-er to change it in at a bank. My current status:

30lbs of pennies (1/2 full giant bottle bank)
Sobe glass bottle full of dimes
McDonalds large plastic cup full of nickels
Vegas slot cup extremely overfull + some kind of square cookie metal box thing (80% of the height of the Sobe bottle) overpacked with quaters

I call it my "Vegas Fund"

Oh and approx 100 gold dollar coin things. Silver dollars not included (100 or so of those kicking around)

Re: Coinstar not a bad deal.

Northfork bank has a change machine in the store and there is no fee.
