Shipping from UK to US questions...

Im looking at purchasing a couple of items on ebay from a seller in the UK (Cardiff) and when asking the seller about combining the shipping on 2 small back packs (no frame or considerable bulk), I was quoted L19.50 (no pound mark on my keyboard), and told that they would have to be shipped seperate because together they are over 2kilos and it was cheaper to send them seperate. Anyone know if this is true and if this is reasonable for shipping to the US?

Re: Shipping from UK to US questions...

Shipping overseas, the Royal Mail offers what is known as the Small Packet service. This is a low cost airmail service and it does have a weight limit of 2.0kg . Above 2.0kg then it would have to go as standard parcel rate which is much more expensive. Not that there is no tracking with this service, but in my exprience it is very reliable. A "Signed For" option can be added at extra cost.

As an example, a few Small Packet rates listed below:

100g = 1.31
500g = 5.02
800g = 7.82
1200g = 11.32
1500g = 14.02
2000g = 18.52

Note that weight increments are 20g with the appropriate increment in cost.

So, 19.20 doesn't sound unreasonable. Normally takes 5 to 8 working days to get to the US, although my record is 3 days door to door to an address in California.

Ah bloody hell... Let me get on the converter to get dollars and pounds from pounds and grams....

Looks like its just really freakin high to ship stuff over. It sucks as these bags here are 50-70 USD each and they have them on ebay for 10 pounds at the moment...

What kind of backpack are you talking about? You can find all kinds of quality recreational gear for cheap around these parts.

Looking at a couple of Oakley bags. What is sad is that I am an Oakley Law Enforcement customer, and get many Oakley products at a steep discount, but for some reason, I can get them cheaper from him...

Oh, nevermind then. Finding the Oakley brand stuff cheap is hard.
