Ok, how many idiots out there do car dealerships think there are?

I've seen the ads saying things like "If we can't beat another dealership's deal, we'll give you $5000." Like if you show up with a deal that's $1000 less, they're going to give you $5000 instead of just selling you the car for $1001 less?

And I just now saw one that takes the cake. "Bring in a deal from any other Honda dealer, and if we can't beat it you get the car FREE. AND not only that, we'll let you pick any other car on the lot and it's yours free too. That's right, TWO FREE cars if we can't beat their deal."

I still like "NO REQUEST FOR CREDIT WILL BE DENIED!!!, ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!" thats my favorite tagline...but yes, the deal beating antics are always quite comical too.

Though two free cars, hee hee - might be worth it if you have a friend that works at a dealership and has access to some of their paperwork, to try and hold them to their statement

why put off today what you can wake up late and forget to do tomorrow.

A few weeks ago I heard an advertisement for a Kia dealer giving away a Rio if you buy a Sorrento or something like that

"two cars" = when we said lot, we meant wholesale lot...its right over this way...which two baby puke, teenager puke, or incontinence saturated trade in's do you want sir?


If I were bored, rich, and had an attention span larger then the space between the sides of a 0, I'd contrive a good way to beat the man. But fact of the matter is I just agree with your statement above - but there would be a funny way to get around it.

I focking hate stealerships Although about a year ago my dad did get to stick it to the man. You know the ads everyweekend "Brand new cars, $13k, only one at this price!" Bla, Bla, Bla. Anyways my brother totaled his car and needed basic transpo for school and work. The local Toyota dealer had an ad for a Corolla, something stupid lik $11k on an a $16k car. So my dad showes up, ad in hand. "Oh that one went fast, we sold it yesterday. But look around, find one you like, and I'll get you a great price on it." So he walks around, and being the engineer he is, is actualy looking at the vin numbers on the window stickers. Well looky here, one in the color my brother wanted, with the vin listed in the add! (by law, they have to print the VIN or inventory number) So he call the sales guy over "I'll take this one at $11k" as he puts the ad in his hand. The sales and finance guys about had a collective corinary, but they had to honor it
