Winos?

I enjoy the occassional glass of red wine but only have a basic understanding of the stuff.

I was given a bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape by a vendor yesterday... I can't find the date on the bottle but there is a small marking on the label of "051286" Is this a 20 year-old bottle? It's really grubby... as though it had been collecting dust in a cellar for 20 years. The guy dropped it off here while I was away... didn't get a chance to ask about it. I can't wait to try it. I have a roast in the freezer that I might have to cook up just for an excuse to drink this thing.

And then there's this asshole...

Re: Winos?

99% of wine is put on the shelves ready to drink. Aging a wine most often will turn it to vinegar. Unless it's a sentimental bottle (gift or something) I wouldn't let most wine sit for too long.

To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
