USB/Firewire adapter?

Im looking for an adapter to use my firewire to transfer data from my camera/mp3/blackberry etc to my pc. I guess I need a plug adapter that makes the standard firewire end fit the small trapazoid looking plug found on all my electrical devices. Anyone know of an animal?

Re: USB/Firewire adapter?

Those devices require USB, don't they? I don't think you can use those with FireWire. No USB port?

Those devices probably have a mini-USB plug on them, and not FireWire. Maybe you're confusing the two?

Re: USB/Firewire adapter?

You probably need this type (mini-USB): http://www.cablesnmor.com/usb-mini-cable.html

Or this type, depending on the device: http://www.cablesnmor.com/usb-cable.html

sure now you post this after I ordered a data cable for my phone last week. That first one looks exactly like the one I'm getting. and I paid $25 before shipping.

Re: USB/Firewire adapter?

I got a data cable (mini-USB, same as above) for my Motorola RAZR, PLUS the Motorola Phonetools Software, PLUS a genuine Motorola car charger, for less than $20 to my door.

Re: USB/Firewire adapter?

Let me check when I get home I might have one you can have for free. I cannot remember the exact ports and brand but it is 'doz/mac compatible

EDIT: Sorry I thought you needed a firewire card I think Conq is correct in that you need USB not Firewire and it should be a mini-USB to USB cable, RTFM to be sure.

Re: USB/Firewire adapter?

He has a lot for sale. Price is lower, but shipping went up. Still about the same total cost.

Re: USB/Firewire adapter?

so I just called Cingular to cancel my order and while I was on hold it starts talking about how you shouldn't just throw away old cell phone batteries. It says you shouldn't throw them away because some of them contain oxycontin.

and after being on hold for 5 minutes I hung up cause I'm very impatient on the phone especially when on hold.

sorry about this little thread jack here. I'm done now.

Re: USB/Firewire adapter?

I've got a Motorola V551 (Cingular GSM). Does this cable and software let me use my laptop's internal modem and go online through dialup? All this friggin' technology has me confused...

Re: USB/Firewire adapter?

If you have the PhoneTools software, and the cable, and a Data Plan from Cingular, yes you can use it to get online with your laptop.

Cingular's data plans: http://www.cingular.com/midtolarge/data_connect

You can just get the PCMCIA adapter from them too, if you plan to use it on the laptop a lot.
