New low in ebay scams

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subar...QQcmdZViewItem

No way this could be real, I emailed him asking for the local police departments phone number so I'll be sure in a day when I get no reply. Who would use this story to scam someone tho.

Re: New low in ebay scams

It was my son`s car ... he died in a bike accident 2 months ago ... can`t handle to see this car everyday in my garage.
This car will be my gift in memory of my son , ( it will be very happy if i`ll find a person who will love and take care of this car in the same way he did )
I would like to take care of shipping until you will have the car in front of your door.
contact me at my email :

Re: New low in ebay scams

There's no way anyone would fall for that scam...there was probably $30k in PARTS in that car.

Re: New low in ebay scams

Always fun to toy with those ppl tho.

If they are within driving distance I always offer to pick it up locally cash in hand. Funny responses.

.....I think it was Sunbert and I that have had this conversation in a thread in the past.

Re: New low in ebay scams

So I've been a little bored today with the snow, been keeping myself entertained this way

So I'm supposed to pay $6,200 on an invoice thats not listed on ebay anymore and then wait for the car to arrive, is that what your plan is?

If you can't give out the name of the shipping company then I will have to insist on payment upon arrival of the car. They will have to hold it at a New England location so I can go down and see that it exists then I will be happy to pay them cash.

Good day,
Thank your for your interest in my son´s car.First of all I want to tell you that the car is still available and the price($6200) includes all the shipping costs and insurance, so you wont have to pay any extra charges. The car looks like new, it has never been scr atched or wrecked. It will come with a clear title, bill of sale signed by me as well and all the papers (including the original manuals and keys) that you will need to register it under your name.please e-mail me back and I will request an invoice right away. Then, all you will need to do is wait for the invoice form ebay and follow the instructions eb ay provides in there. I'm selling it at a low price because I've just moved to Dublin, Ireland(you know my son story) and I can't drive it here because cars from here are with the steering wheel on right, and this it have the steering wheel on left so for me this car is useless.the car will be shipped from Dallas, Texas. It is already at the shipping company, crated and ready to go, so I only need an address to send it to.. In hope of a good collaboration, I hope that you will understand my situation.
E-mail me back if you are interested.
Warm regards!

Re: New low in ebay scams

Last month I saw an ad with the SAME EXACT spiel in an ad for a tricked out '05 R1.

the only difference was

"It was my son`s bike... he died in Iraq 2 months ago ... can`t handle to see this bike everyday in my garage.
This car will be my gift in memory of my son , ( it will be very happy if i`ll find a person who will love and take care of this bikein the same way he did )

"

The real seller had his account hijacked because I looked at his history and all he sold was work boots. Another funny thing was it said the account belong to somebody in CA, but the ad said the bike would shipping out of Florida.

They rely on ebayers to report this scams, kind of like craigslist. I don't think they'd have the man power (or at least want to spend the money) to review every single ad that gets placed.

I could look at every single buy-it-now vehicle auction for them, every single day, and eliminate the obvious scams. ie: Corvette Z06, buy-it-now $12,000. I mean, c'mon!

I'd do it for 100k a year. Ebay, you listening?!?!? Believe me, 100k a year is going to seem cheap when people quit using them all together due to scams!
