Re: Climbing.

cool.

But I think it was a setup - that rope is supposed to be going into a spooler ain't it? ...or did they just not like you

why put off today what you can wake up late and forget to do tomorrow.

Went for the 3rd time last night, scaled a 5.10. What a rush!

A piece of advice to you single guys:

Join a climbing gym. Now.

Re: Climbing.

Yeah, it is most certainly a great place to meet women.

But I hate climbing. I dunno why, I love hiking but I guess climbing is too slow for me or something.

Re: Climbing.

It's slow but it's an incredible rush when you get over a tough obstacle. It's also a great full-body workout; I broke a sweat on a couple walls. I could also see how you could build big Popeye forearms. That was the first thing to fatigue.

Oh and the women... LOTS of them, and they're all fit.

And then there's this asshole...

Re: Climbing.

I've done a bit of it, and it just doesn't give me any rush. Even free climbed some stuff over water...screw up and you just kick away to land in the lake below.

Just doesn't do it for me.

KILLER forearm and hand workout though.

Re: Climbing.

My brother used to be HUGE into climbing (I'm talking thousands of $$ in equipment), and the one thing that he emphasized to me was to keep your body as close to the wall as possible in order to save your forearms and grip strength.
Don't know if that helps, but take it FWIW

Re: Climbing.

If you need a rope I take a different route. Although rock scrambling is fun. My cube mate does repelling into caves a bunch (vs the simulated urban stuff)

Coming down is so much fun... Here is a cave I want to hit this summer, here in TN. If you look closely there is a guy in a red suit roping into the room.

Re: Climbing.

Climbing is fun. Done it 2-3 times. However, since I have really bad carpal-tunnel, and have next to zero grip strength, I can no longer climb. I got to the point where I was basically using only my left arm to pull myself up (w/ legs pushing of course), grab another rock with my right gimpy hand by hooking my wrist like an umbrella handle, then finding another hold with my left hand. It just wasn't worth it.

Be fast or be last.

That is an awesome pic! You don't realize the scale of it until you look at the guy descending.

I did a climbing wall last year for the first time. I don't know who was impressed more that I scaled it easily...me or the hottie instructor.
