Biodiesel

What are your thoughts on biodiesel? How does it compare in your opinion to E85?

Re: Biodiesel

Is that the stuff made with cooking oil? A friend's dad has been using that in his Powerstroke for years. He goes around to restaurants in his area and they gladly give him their old oil, which he mixes/filters/does something with and uses it in his truck.

Re: Biodiesel

Be carefull if your putting biodiesel in a PowerStroke. Ford does not recomend using any fuel with over 5 percent biodiesel. I know that it will work ("My mother's brother's uncle's dog walker uses it to run 12s in his F350, bla, bla, bla), but if you have any problems with the truck, ford may refuse to fix it under warranty.

Re: Biodiesel

The only problems that you should run into if you ise more than a 5% blend is a corrosion of the rubber fuel components. What consumers have on their side is that engine manufacturers make an engine to work with a fuel that meets an ASTM standard. If the biodiesel meets that standard they may be a valid warranty claim...but if you have any problems with your diesel using biodiesel it was probrably caused by something else.
