I hope that I get to get away with crazy stuff when I'm 80.

Re: Deputies Stop Motorist Driving Wrong Way On Interstate - "I'm not crazy yet."

Let's see - She's disoriented, headed to a doc appointment...........Oh let's not forget that she's 80 years old. She drove this way for 14 miles or so without noticing. Her only hope of stopping to realize what happened was that a group of officers stopped her with sirens blaring and lights flashing.

And to my utter surprise - There were no charges.

I would bet that after they got her car turned around she was allowed to continue about on her disoriented way.

I don't mean to be so negative. I will hopefully become older one day myself, but this is the same, if not worse that drunk driving. She should have had her car impounded, family should have been called to picker her up, and her liscence temporarily suspended until medical reviews show her to be aware enough to drive.

Ridiculous. If this had been anyone of us we would have been given a souvenier. Since when does age matter in this regard?

Yeah, the "I'm not crazy yet" is pretty funny. My Grandma says stuff like that all the time.

But not cited? Sorry, take away granny's license before she kills someone. Don't charge her any money for the citation, just get her off the road before she kills someone.

That is scary. I had a driver run me off the road driving the wrong way on I-57 in Illinois about 20 years ago. It was about 4:00 am when he came over a rise in the road in my lane. Damn good thing one of us was sober...

I've said it many times before, and will again. If there is a minimum age limit to drive due to fears of natural physical, mental or maturity inabilities there should be a maximum age to drive as well for the same reasons.
At the very minimum testing every couple years after a certain age.

I can't read the link since I'm on the mobile, but in TN if I stop someone who I believe is incompetent to drive, I can file the paperwork to call for a retest. I've never had to do it, but I have the paperwork.

Yeah, until the Geezer Terror Organization (better known as AARP) gets involved.
She won't have to do a thing thanks to them. Of course, they're all for raising the minimum driving age to 18 as well.
