Re: New gadgets?

It could be a couple of things. It's interesting that the launch is at Infinite Loop instead of an off-site location.

But the main rumors are:
The "true" video ipod with a full screen on the front, and a touch interface
More intel based macs, maybe an Mactel XServe
Video capable Airport Express
The "real" iTunes phone (iPhone)

Re: New gadgets?

Well... we are just 25 minutes fom the Prophet His Steveness' address to the press at the Apple Town Hall down on Infinite Loop.

Any last predictions? Seems like the press is going for full-length movies on iTunes and a MacMini to run you fancy HD monitor with Front Row.

Re: New gadgets?

Hehe... here is another prediction on another site:

Quote:
Jobs is going to introduce an all white 8 track player thats will take over the ipod. Of course he will some how convince all his apple groupies that 8 track is the wave of the future, and they will all run out and buy them for $499.99.

Re: New gadgets?

Well, here is is:

1) MacMini with Intel - Both in Core Solo and Core Duo configs. Now with the Apple Remote, which leads into:

2) Front Row, now with Bonjour so you can access media on other machines. So now you can have your music library over on your main PC along with your videos and what not, and use the small MacMini with the remote to access the content in HD using DVI.

3) The iPod Hi-Fi... sounds like a Bose-type small system with an iPod dock on the top. I have been wanting to get some kind of boom-box setup, so we will have to see how well it really sounds. Also uses the Apple Remote.

That's really about it for this round. I am sure the video will be on Apple's site soon.

What's the point of a hi-fi when you're listening to grainy compressed digital music?

You are assuming that the music you have is compressed. You could just as easily save it as a lossless direct PCM copy of the CD that you have. I have a bunch of CDs that are this way, such as Dire Straights' Brothers In Arms, Coltrane's Live at Birdland, Woob 1194, etc. Music that I actually listen to, not just have as background entertainment.

There are actually some recordings that are higher-than-CD quality that you could have as well, the iPod can play them as well. It's just that most people don't care.

hi-fi grainy sounds more hi-fi than regular grainy

if you can't convince them, confuse them.
